So I've seen someone say in another thread that Bridge is an issue and suggested using Finder more. I don't have a preference really - but Bridge seems great if it will work properly. Don't know if I'm going to apply tags and whatnot for organizing, but maybe.
On a related side-note: Anyone know if it's OK to use a Mybook external drive on it's side? I've got it under my desk on it's side, and I've not seen anything that says this is bad (yet, on the flipside I've not seen any photos of it used this way.)

run the os X hardware test. put the restore disc in, reboot and hold D down. Rule out any hardware issue. My friend had to have her HD replace in her imac, similar issue, anything she clicked on, beachball. So it don't hurt to run it.
