Any ideas on how to make a logo reusable? im doing a visual id for an eco school, which promotes environmental and community sustainability. The only thing I can think of is making the logo form out of certain materials - eg.school materials such as pens or pencils or even using stuff that people would see as junk eg. bottle caps and then photographing that..actual furniture and pieces inside building are going to be repurposed pieces or made up from stuff people consider junk. Proposed name for school is Little Okes. What are your thoughts on the name? Another thought I had was that maybe furniture which spells out the schools name could be the logo and it is actually used in the school? Or logo form made up out of acorns ha ha and then photographed and used? lol

What's an oke?
Are you trying to design a logo, or just coming up with a single execution of its form?

Is it pronounced like "oak" or "ok's"?

Are aliens carbon based or silicone based?

lol an oke is like a little guy..pronounced like oak.
Trying to design a logo and letterhead and various other applications. I'm just wondering but do schools actually make use of business cards? I'm thinking it's more word of mouth? Am I right to assume this?

he he I agree with Ian, totally sillycone based! :)

We had a radio show called "Used Condoms" in college, and I will tell you what I tell everyone in your situation:
Used Condoms + Strewn with meticulous care in a park + Hi-Res Photo = Logo.

Recycled paper and vegetable ink.
A logo made of bottle caps and broken Ikea furniture will be too complicated. Give them a regular logo and save the actual recycling for real world 3D applications of the logo.
ALL schools use business cards and letterheads and envelops. Word of mouth? Huh?

Um..I duna in my mind I always assumed schools didn't really do marketing, and would just survive by people just talking about the school to others..

for the business cards you should use that seed paper, have a perf so the user can tear off a section of the card with the info and then plant the card with the logo.

Business cards aren't a marketing tool, holy crap. You give them out at meetings and shit like that.
Teacher: "Here's my card—"
Some Guy: "I don't have any kids, so no thanks champ."

lol lol thats so funny i_monk!
By marketing I was referring more to advertising of schools etc. I made that comment after speaking about business cards, but was actually on a new tangent or train of thought :/ Sorry for not explaining myself properly :/ In general, I am under the impression that schools don't usually take on a designer to promote themselves.
- All private schools and supplementary systems (Sylvan) do to an extent.i_monk
