InDesign quick Q

I'm running on CS3 and my tool panels are pulled out way too far. I like working with them expanded but there are expanded to twice the size somehow creating a lot of wasted space on the right of all the tool options and I can't get the edge of the panel to let me resize to the normal size. The "Reset Panels" doesn't help either. Any help? Is there away to take InDesign to its factory defaults?
Thanks. Shit broadcast, I know.

window / workspace / default workspace doesn't do it?

Thats been tried, still nothing.

you mean they don't resize when you drag the edge? have you tried just clicking on the bar at the top of the palette? toggles between different view states

No matter how hard I try (shouldnt be that fucking hard) I cant get the cursor to turn to the resize arrows.

That's been tried. I've resized before to get more thumbs of pages to show on large docs, etc and sized back fine, but there are few panels that will not resize and that throws the rest off when set to be all expanded if that makes sense. The gradient one for example, as useless as that panel is, it's pulled out to be twice normal size and so it throws off the rest of the set.
