I'm doing a rendering that uses several external footage files (all quicktimes) sometimes it renders them properly sometimes it looks like the footage is frozen on a specific frame, If I close after effects then open it again then render (sometimes) it gets fixed.
Is there a way I can prevent this from happening?
I'm on CS3 on a mac.Thanks in advance.

are clips and the comp set to the same resolution and or frame rate?
i.e. square pixels, NTSC DV, etc...?

My main comp is in HD and I'm using small clips at 640x480, but its was doing fine till a few hours ago, and now its driving me crazy.

Can you post a quick example of a 'bad' render?
I seem to recall hitting this issue before.

well it may take me a few but I might be able to post a few seconds, basically one of the quicktimes stays still when it should be moving.
Like frozen.

hmm, what's the source of the footage?
Is it your own, stock, ripped? Where did it come from?
- Meeklo0
its a shitty quicktime from a client, that all they have, and I have to use it. (so because the project is in HD, I put it on a box in normal size)

I wonder if there is something wonky in that footage. I've had these problems with crap sources before. Not sure what it is, some sort of security, or bad encoding maybe.
Possible fix, but no guarentees, don't want you to waste time on a guess:
Possibly, isolate the footage, and rerender the clips them selves as image sequences. I say image sequences because you can see all frames if necessary for problems.
Then, reimport the sequences, and use them to replace inside your main comp.
That's my guess, good luck! :)

hmm, I just exported only the 10 seconds that I need for the source (total time of source is over a minute) and that seems to work now.
will try your solution if it happens again.
maybe you are right, there was some sort of bad encoding.

Cool, hope all works out!
