yeah i know about phorm only you'll have to sign up and authorise use of your data by all accounts.

'by all accounts' since when? That's certainly not what's been said thusfar - it's still in the mode of a stealthy opt-out integration.

I know things like this (link below) will work for 3rd party intrusion but not sure if this protects you from the ISP itself. Anyone know?
- I doubt it. Virgin would still know your IP and see how much bandwidth you are usingflashbender

Change ISP.
- fafore0
What?
- Raniator0
you could change your isp.
believe it or not, there are many.

Often helps if you explain a bit of the background too - assuming that everyone here knows about this whole '3 strikes and you're out' thing is a bit much.

Really... what is the issue, it sounds quite worrying

OH!
Be Broadband here I come!
You can legally leave a contract early if you're not happy with changes in terms and conditions, right?

I've heard if your ISP is trying to fuck with you, a good place to put in a complaint is:

Carphone warehouse is the place to go, they've announced today that they are refusing to grass on their own customers as their responsibilities lie in the customer/supplier relationship and it is also not their responsibility to sort out the problems of the BPI.

i can get tv from sky for £21 per month, bt line rental is £11 per month and broadband is around £15 per month which is more than the £30 i get with virgin :( thats my problem.
using utorrent with pg2 and encryption turned on
- flashbender0
^ seriously dude, pick one - worry about money or worry about your ISP cracking down on you.
So what - it's £17 per month different. I personally would switch on principal.
And if you do download music off the interents, you'll be forced to switch eventually anyway. Or you can not download music and add the cost of a couple CDs per month to that £30.

I'm with tiscali and they're shits.

ok so any guesses as to which ISP's wont subscribe to this nastyness?
- kelpie0
don't they give you access to Newsgroups instead? that's what the guy in work here says

'None of the big ones' for the forseeable future. Unfortunately, there are moves afoot to follow planned Japanese legislation and force all ISPs to monitor their customers' traffic and sanction them when they go out of line.
Which will, of course, merely mean that some new pre-PGP'd torrent technology will take off, so we'll have had our rights infringed for no practical purpose. Woowahey!

what has virgin said?
