Very cool technique, how the how did you find that specific image on FFFpotluckpix Found, since there is no search engine? Was it just a random image that you found, curious???
- i'd found it a couple of days ago and kept it around because i've always liked that style of magic.DoubleKing

One word: fractals.

Actually, more words: Did you bother to click into his links? It's done with Fyre. Which, whaddya know: Fyre is a tool for producing computational artwork based on histograms of iterated chaotic functions.

This reminds me of an old Kai's Power Tools filter. The 90s were a long time ago. I forgot the name.

here's the Flickr pool for Fyre images

- from what i understand, the Fyre downloads all appear to be pc based. I'd guess most fractal programming would be pc. Is there a way to play with this stuff on mac, shy of an emulator?DoubleKing
- is this Cinema 4D, Maya , etc?morilla
- Sure, but there are many fractal generators out there.. check out Apophysis.kult
- morilla, it's Fryre. A fractal program. Seems to be PC only. Would love a Mac versionDoubleKing
- Though that's Windows too.. I'm sure there are Mac alternativeskult
- looks like version tracker is my friend for mac tech. would love to hear any first hand exp thoughDoubleKing
- ahh ok, gotcha. So no Mac alternatives? I can't find any so far.morilla
- DoubleKing0
morilla, version tracker shows a bunch of mac fractal programs. i've never used one and would love to hear from any other macies that can recommend one.

You need a good Lorenz Attractor generating program.
- DoubleKing0
currently trying to get fyre hotwired to my mac.
i've also been looking at Quadrium 2 and Quadrium Flame for mac which may do very similar things (fwiw Morilla.) Fractal programs are new to me so the front-end blindness is pretty steep. Both Quad programs are freeware/sharware. There's specific differences between the two but i've not gotten my noggin around it yet.

you can do stuff like that by making an action in photoshop. . . starting with a curvy line, duplicate, scale+transform, then automate it to repeat tons of times. Saw a tutorial on it a bit ago, don't know where.

You can do something similar in the free program NodeBox. Animate it too...

could also be from any 3d program like lightwave, cinima 4d, 3dsmax, maya, ect. I think I saw something like this as a sample render setting for one of them a couple years back... maybe it was softimage...
- step 1 - create nurbs spline
step 2 - ????
step 3 - render and profit!
(I think step 2 apply some modifiers...)j3one
