Mine, being cooler, is with the newest revision yes.

So... those who have reported the machine as hotter or cooler... is that with the new processor?
- cramdesign0
i already do that and the pillow just bursts into flames and asbestos is against my building code.

thanks for the responses. I guess there really isn't a good answer to this as it seems comparative. I am really only interested in knowing about the very new ones release within the last month or so. Anything released before then gets pretty hot when in something Adobe or the like and definitely when playing a Windows game (hard to get more processor intense than gaming).

use a pillow.
or wear 2 pairs of pants.

Still hot - but as my studio is cold it's fine. Don't use on your lap though!

My video card fan speeds up quite a bit when playing tf2 in boot camp, but still pretty cool to the touch ~

Mine is a 2.4 Intel from 2006 and only really gets hot when i'm playing games in windows.

Yeah mines seriously never gotten remotely hot, but i didn't have a previous gen mbp to compare.

the fellow at the apple store told me the new MBP's dont get nearly as hot as the last generation ones.

My 2.2 ghz MBP gets really hot when I'm in Flash for more than 20 minutes.

still hot. but not enough to fry an egg.

I have a new MBP and heat is a serious non issue. I've used it for hours on my lap and had no problems at all. If you're doing something graphic intensive then i'm sure it'd be a little hotter than what i'm experience, but for normal computer usage i've had no problems!

I have that istat widget for my MBP, and see that one of the temps gets up in the upper 70s when I was working on music editing this weekend. The GPU diode, I believe. During lighter use all temps are below 60.

Jaline, this is nice: http://www.targus.com/US/product…, power supply is from USB
- nice. I don't have lots of issues with heat though, so I think I am good for now.Jaline

I just bought some cheap laptop feet so that I wouldn't have to worry about heat. It's not a huge deal but it's helpful.

still don't know what shall take: new dell xps m1530 or MacBook Pro 2,2 from refurb. The new one is based on new chipset, you can run Mac OS and Win XP, but is more expensive than Dell XPS

my mbp still gets hot, but forget how that compares to my other laptops i've had (older mbp, powerbook g4). but to alleviate the heat, I bought a fancy smancy laptop "platform" from rain design - http://www.raindesigninc.com. it was for the laptop stand that you can put in your lap. probably overpaid for it, but it looks nice and i don't worry about the heat anymore.

The new ones are the Penryn chipset which are supposed to use less energy which I would think means that they generate less heat. I was hoping that someone with similar working habits to mine would have some firsthand experience.
I like the IBM/Lenovo laptops but I want a Mac for my next computer.
