like people said... ditch the page turner ... it was big about 4 years ago and it was done to death.
Keep it simple is the key!!!
a basic html one pager site is fine and let your WORK do the talking.Creative directors don't have allot of time and will only look at you site for 30 seconds or so you want them to see you work instantly.
have a look at http://www.onepagefolios.com/ to get an idea.

Points above go for me too - page flip is tired (unless you can find a way to do it interestingly), too small, no one really cares about WHAT you've used to make things - just, if at all, HOW you made it. Or, rather - 'WHY'. Your process and reasoning are the important things.
I find it interesting that you refer to html pages as 'cheap'. Over the years of my pitiful career, I've come to appreciate that minimal, functional sites and pieces are the most expensive to get right. It's 'easier' to throw more at things to get them looking like they've had money spent on them, in the eyes of the layperson. Quality, however, doesn't work like that. As someone quoted on here once - "the style is not cheap, the style is very expensive", which isn't really relevant here, but makes me sound like I know what I'm talking about.
The one thing I'll say - you've been a student for a while. You've had lots of time on your hands and you want to show off your skillz0rs. The real world isn't like that - it's all about time, results and professionalism. Everything else is secondary. So don't throw up barriers between me and your work - don't try and show off - in all likelihood, I've probably see it done better elsewhere. So, be honest.
Lastly, don't take the ramblings of internet gas bags too much to heart.

html is the way 4ward.
- you can make a straightforward site just as easily, and perhaps more tightly, in flash********

I'm sorry, I just don't like it when websites imitate books, radio dials, bulletin boards, post it notes, televisions, or other real life objects

If you are going to use the page turning thing then at least make the layouts LOOK like layouts in a magazine.
Your pages are essentially all the same with diff image and text.
id liked to have seen spreads/pages done uniquely for each project so it was more like a design book and exciting portfolio
