I don't have a need for one, but a non-web savy design friend was looking for a free online portfolio to showcase some of his work and easy enough to update on his own.
I did some searching and came accross http://www.carbonmade.com/. it looks like garbage. I saw a similar one before that was more visually appealing but can't seem to find the link.
Any help on this?

Good links you two. I'm bookmarking those now (except flickr of course).

flickr is actually your best bet.
Their service has more users than any of the other ones listed, and the API/RSS features allows you to adapt its look to your own custom look, with the benefits that comes with their large userbase / tag/ group system

quick example:
http://flickr.flashapis.com/type your flickr address there
- this seems pretty cool, but for some reason, the code generated is coming out as "undefined", unless you code it in yourself, otherwise it isn't that clearMSTRPLN
- strange.. are you using your flickr ID number? (won't work with handle) http://idgettr.com/Meeklo

you can set-up a blogspot or a wordpress.com account, and customize with loads of plugins that intercat with external free galleries, like flickr.com

well, we see someone already mentioned it, but here is the invitation request page for behance: http://www.behance.net/Sign_Up
and, fyi: just launched a new "/frame" view that gives a noise-free portfolio (see two portfolio versions below):
normal: http://www.behance.net/area105

Lol, I love how the link to the Krop database in the top right corner of this website isn't mentioned.

Right, what about the Krop Database? That's pretty easy to use...
