Who needs Big Brother when we have Media(um) Brother.
Been following this story since yesterday, finally front-paged to CNN:

Yet BBC and international press reports the US vessel shot and killed one man, wounding two while the US press says only "warning shots" were fired - even 24 hours after the story broke.

Seems like an admission from your media to me? Government confirmation is always behind in these kind of situations - it has to be, necessarily, to avoid panic mongering.
