Hi
I have a question if anybody would be so kind enough to answer. I was contacted by a car dealership who recently parted ways with their advertising agency. They want me to create advertisements for them, however, they do not provide any car photos to go in their ad (they said their agency provided all that). Now, I am a member of various stock photography websites that have car photos on them, but I was wondering if there was a site geared specifically toward royalty free car photos - featuring full lines of various makes and models. I don't need a generic car photo but specific makes and models to depict the various cars they are selling. Thanks for your help...

Might want to keep checking, but I would be surprised if the Auto manufacturers didnt have them available. They usually have a media kit or press kit for this purpose. They dont want to have you make a big billboard with soem crap photo that you took yourself.

Heavy is bang on. MINI is our client and we have access to BMW's media pool which has thousands of images for their brands.

The press kits usually give permission 'only for editorial use'... but they would be a good source...

For example, from http://media.gm.com/

Go back and talk to the dealership. Access to photography shouldn't be affected by their agency. Their dealer agreement should give them full access to approved branding materials.
Chances are, if you pop some stock photo on an ad and the word or logo "Nissan" (for example) appears there, the brand manager of the car brand will be up their asses for that.

They always have styleguides about usage. You will want to read up about that too. For instance, you need to keep the logo on a white bg, and it has to be x distance from the edge and anything else...

Thanks for your responses so far. I am checking with the client to see if they have access to these images from the manufacturers.
