right then ...............
we made a Flash website where half of it was made using actionscript 2 and the other half using papervision (which is actionscript 3) but cant merge the two together.anyone got any ideas how to merge them ?

Haha. You can't just 'mix' them, it's absolutely completely different in every way. It's not just semantical code differences, Flash's compiler treats them totally differently.
One of you better work on porting the AS2 code to AS3 quickly. It's much, much, easier to adapt old crappy AS2 code to streamlined AS3, and you'll never get that Papervision code to be backwards compatible in time (or possibly ever..)

I was also thinking of localConnection — if you have your AS3/Papervision content in an area on the page totally separate from the part that is still AS2, you might be able use the localConnection class to pass actionScript, variables, arrays, etc. from one movie to the other.

use a new as3 swf to load the other two and a library like swfbridge to handle cross-avm communication.
