Working Abroad?

So I've never known anyone who's done it, but I've always wondered how difficult it is for a U.S. citizen to get work in Europe, Germany or Amsterdam. Can anyone share some stories or maybe let me know what my chances might be if I wanted to give it a shot? Also, where does one start?
Just for a little background, I've got about 10 years of interactive design & development experience, the last 2 have focused heavily on Flash development, and in NYC at least, demand for my services far exceeds my availability. So do I have a chance at getting a dev job abroad?

Holland is the most practical to do this. Depending on how you structure it, the country will actually give you a stipend for re-locating and contributing to the tech economy of the country.

We're all still on 8.1 over here and Flash is yet to make it big... but we do support innovators and trailblazers...

First things first. "work in Europe, Germany or Amsterdam."?? you know must learn your geography. Europe is a continent, Germany is a country, and amsterdam is a city. (you know much like, north america, united states, and new york city)
Secondly, i really can't help. Good luck.

Have fun being taxed in two countries. The US taxes 'global income'.
- can't you tax zero, as the dude lives aboard. ?akrokdesign

you can get a permanent visa in the UK if you've been supporting yourself as an "artist/designer" for at least 2 years, and then they decide whether your work is culturally significant.
