50$ hotel with your own bathroom and wifi in nyc. keep dreaming.

I used to stay at a place called Gershwins which was quite cheap... googling... googling...
Very art studenty and boho, and popular with roaches, but its okay.
The Paramount is quite reasonably priced and its still a good place to stay even though Shrager sold it. Maybe a little more than you're hoping to spend but it would be worth it if you can find a little more. The girls who work in the whiskey bar in there are IN-SANELY FOXY. Every time I'm there I get completely fucking battered on whiskey just for the pleasure of being served at the low slung tables ;)

Update... Gershwin offers accomodation at your price range.
Also, the website looks like a studiospooky website... ie, very excellent website indeed in technological terms, so GO THERE!

no, Islip.
Any idea?

P.s. You can take the air train to subway into Manhattan from LGA. This would be the cheapest option.
