I like his quote:
"It started off as a joke, to try and make something so realistic that people would think is a photo."
Well, you're already (clearly) copying a photo, so why not just print an enlargement and save yourself the time? Yes, he's quite talented, but what he does can hardly be considered art. If it is then Xerox is the greatest living artist of our time.
Where is the soul / passion / meaning?

At first I agreed with you Jay_tuck, but then I considered that almost all pre-modernist art consisted of realistic depictions of scenes or portraits of people acheived by means of pigment on paper. So maybe he IS making art by traditional definitions, but the meaning of art has been redefined since the 20th Century.
Or something.
Why do we require our art to have 'meaning' these days I wonder.

Did anyone ever see that guy who forged dollar bills? He drew them so well that he fooled people in shops and even banks.
and jay_tuck ^ Don't be a player hater – you think photoshop has meaning??

I've often thought that about all that fancy gravure to make bank notes unforgeable. Nobody looks at them close enough for it to be effective. It doesn;t surprise me at all that someone could draw one and pass it off in a shop. Would love to see his stuff. He should be treated as an artist. His ten pound notes should be sold at Sotherby's for thousands.
