my mom has to rummage through her purse, slowly pulls her phone out, reaches for her glasses (to see who is calling), looks at it for two rings also, asks "who is calling me?", and when she finally answers, she gets upset because they hung up.

Alright...THE WORST is when my mom calls me on her cell phone, and then turns it off imediately after leaving a message...I tell her to keep the phone on, but she doesnt buy it... "It wastes batteries"

When I said old people, I meant seniors.
I think middle-aged people are bad at the whole technology thing, but *some* can pick it up.

Maybe madirish is right, and it's only in Ottawa...

HAHA
i am sorry, and do not mean this in a derogatory way whatsoever, but jeebus- travel and different perspective would seriously be a great thing for you.

Eh, whatever, I am not going to get a different perspective from watching seniors learn about technology. Middle-aged people (especially those who work downtown, for the government, usually) seem to be fine with it. I think I am frustrated because I always have to train people at work.

haha- but that is my very point; the population of 'middle age" people you are talking about are of a very distinct demographic. they are not like those of same race/creed/culture of say.... SF, london, Vancouver, Tokyo, etc.
all i am saying is, seeing "seniors learn about technology" in various parts of the world is not the same everywhere you go, thus, not the same demographic. that's all.

My parents both have blackberries and are emailing constantly....my dad wants to get rid of his to get an iphone...they can handle all this, but they still both have "down to business" as their ringtones...HORRIBLE...how about just some nice beeps or simple sounds...why do people feel the need to have song clips play...all it says about you is that your taste in music is dated because no one ever updates those damned things...if I hear "my humps" one more time...

My dad just got "Web designing for dummies" or something like that. This should be interesting.

My mom (she's a frisky and still working 72) always tries to listen for a dialtone first on her cel phone before she makes a call.... it's kinda cute actually...
