I need to investigate a range of environmentally responsible retail packaging options, and would be interested to hear of any suppliers or products you can recommend.
I am primarily looking for off the shelf solutions for a product that fits into about a 5cm x 5cm x 1cm volume - so am thinking hook and hole mounted or in small (also eco-) point of display presentation racks.
Packaging needs to be wholly sealable - so that bitty bits don't leak out.
Are there any industry websites out there that are of any use?
I would also consider European products - from any further afield and I may as well go with sealed plastic units and a percentage donation to [insert carbon credit trading elastoplast salve here].
Thankyou!

by bitty bits do you mean seeds?

Bump? :|

One last bump - have any of you Euros/Brits EVER worked with ANY [even just ostensibly] green retail packaging suppliers or companies?
I'd consider corn plastic blister packs - well-made paper bags, small cardboard boxes, moulded paper-pulp - in short, anything, as long as it can store matter, fit in my hand and is environmentally conscious.

This is a company we use, they are print farmers and not exclusively eco. They are however very good and we get all sorts of things through them including environmentally responsible options. If you give them a call they should be able to give you a few options for what your describing.

- Interesting link - I take it these guys are good for hands off projects - full outsourcing?detritus
- That's right. They are very helpful and kind get pretty much anything you want. Dylan has a degree in print buying and really knows his stuff.
weave - not sure why I wrote kind there instead of can. Freudian slip?weave

Thanks, lowimpakt - I was actually fairly close to dropping you an email about this.
That www.wrap.org.uk site looks like the business - loads of links to suppliers around the country (in particular, London) - is the SPA one specific to Australia?
At this point, I think I need to procure an off-the-shelf solution - but it's a subject I want to investigate more thoroughly and have a better handle on, as it's increasingly cropping up (and if it doesn't - it should! :)
I'd like to set out a proper resource thread for this topic - I was surprised at how uneasy it was to find suppliers in the UK. Perhaps that's merely my ignorance shining through.

there are other resources out there but it can be difficult doing anything concrete with standard suppliers because of scale/cost. I'd suggest getting the design strategy right, talk with suppliers and explore non packaging solutions.
