why doesn't AFP work? (tried connecting from both ends?)
- Dunno why afp wasn't working, i just tried it one way and it wouldn't connect, tried 2 different IP addresses.ian
- have you tried using DYNdns.org to link the mac's IP to a fixed domain name?ribit
- and is port 548 forwarded in the remote router to the mac you want to connect to?ribit

Are you on the same local network or is the target far away? If you're physically close (and you've got Macs) then you could connect via Firewire and target disk mode.
Shut one machine down, connect them, boot the machine back up while holding the T key. It'll turn the freshly booted computer into an overblown external hard drive. Works beautifully.
- Nah, we're in separate locations, thats the problem, but ta for trying!ian

Have you tried using software to split the file into smaller chunks which you could then send over via more traditional means? I think WinZip et al do this?

yeah, wasn't there a Drop Segment thingy with Stuffit?

Don't have idisk? I mean, sure, its completely fucking shit, but when all else fails, its there for this kind of thing. Maybe you can hassle a friend to upload it to their idisk if you don't have.

AH, didn't think of the segments thingy in dropstuff (never used that part before). Will try it out and see how good it is!
Cheers!
