Anyone had any experience designing for mousemats?
Do optical mice dictate how much content can be on the surface of the mat? Or are there surface textures which allow the 'lasers' to work regardless of the design?
Does that make sense?

Ps. Yeah, I know it's old fashioned... it's not my idea.

Ive done a few mousepads...optical works well on fabric or neoprene style surfaces...usually the harder plastic surfaces are pebbled causing occasional read errors and erroneous mouse movement + inaccuracy, though the color replication is usually better on the plastic surface.
My 2c.

An optical mouse works best on a matte surface, shiny/reflective tends to interfere with the laser.
Ive used this crowd before but they are based in Dublin, but it'll give you an idea of whats available.
