What the hell is this?
Received an e-mail from Dreamhost, does this happen often? I've only posted the directory here. Here's the e-mail:Sorry but we had to block traffic to the http://up.youngruffians.com/vaniā¦
files.... looks like the connections are over saturating the apache
service and is bringing the load up n the server. Please remove these files or block the IPs that are making the most
connections, once you have done this let us know and we will remove the
block.

Check your stats and look at the server load / bandwidth. See if its high?
If your not exceeding your bandwidth then it shouldn't be an issue.

I can see the page...

Yeah, I just now deleted the .htacces file they had put in the folder.

If your bandwidth is not exceeded im not sure how they can tell you this?
Thats the problem with hosting companies these days, they promise the world to you in hosting specs but when you reach a certain level they take it away. Which is dishonest business imo.Tell them you haven't exceeded your bandwidth and to piss off.

there is no bandwidth limit with Dreamhost...

Bandwidth and everything else seems to be fine. Why would they do such a stupid thing if it's just a bunch of pictures. Ahh, I'll just write them an angry letter to bugger off or I'll break their knees.

I just noticed all of your recent threads have ended in "ck"...

Waiting for their response. As sherman said it's silly. Even if my bandwidth would have exceeded, their own policy states that it is $0.1 for every GB over the limit.

Dreamhost is the enemy.

Did I mention I hate 99% of hosting companies. Yet to find one that I like.
- you should seriously set up your own server on static IP in your office to host all your clients from...madirish
- ...oh wait- no you shouldn't. ;)
Rackspace is wonderful to work withmadirish - I hate dealing with hosting nightmares. I was a reseller for a while but if shit happens people come straight to me. arghsherman
- and you dont get paid for dealing with email problems and down servers. what a headache.sherman
- yeah, most hosting places have issues every once in a while. DH does every now and then, but I've been lucky.Jaline

Don't you think this is absurd?
"Your best option is to look into our private servers, which would isolate
you from all other users. Meaning that your sites traffic would not be
able to affect other users as was the problem on the shared server."- Why is that absurd? If you're driving enough connections to a shared server environment to bring it down for the whole machine, you're doing it wrong. Traffic like that should be hosted on a dedicated server (at least a VPS).dropkick
