'm confused.
i see music badges and what not for $650... which seems crazy expensive. i just want to check out the last weekend, but considering how much registration is, that doesn't make much sense.
i'd assume that you could just pay at the door to see individual bands? but haven't seen much word on that...
what the eff am i missing qbn?

a lot.
you can register and see the music..... any day all day it is going on. or, you cannot register, and see none of the music, any day all day it is going on. pretty simple really.
and $650 for that much music, that many days is not expensive at all, IMO.

- It can be pretty hard getting into shows without the passes. They sell out quickly, voiceof

I went to college at UT Arlington in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.
SXSW was always the week before or after our spring break, and back then they also had a super cheap student pass. They've really gotten pricier in the last 5 years or so. I could never go back then.
My band played there last year but we were only there for a day and had to head to Dallas for a show. Austin is my favorite city in Texas though, I go there just as often as I see family in the DFW area.

what's really going on at SXSW? Last year I speculated on here about going and everyone basically said not to waste my time unless all I wanted to see a bunch of crap bands... What other mediums are there? technology? design? art? WTF IS IT?!
