Thje district round by the Ecole Militaire is great... or used to be great when I was doing Paris regularly a few years back. Its wehre APC started out and a little enclave of great shops sprung up round there for a while. Can't remember the district though but Ecole Militaire is big enough to show up the map!

Oh yes food, my favourite eatery is Le Fumoir near the Louvre. Probably shit now if the smoking ban is in full effect as it is/was a cigar heavy restaraunt but with amazing food.
The Turkish quarter (probably not actually called that) is a great place for some really atmospheric after hours food drink and entertainment, especially if you like a bit of a toke. There's a lot of unlicensed back-room places that do great food and are full of some eye opening characters. Its a bit dodgy but you just have to sort of walk towards someone stood guarding a closed door and they'll let you in if they feel like it. Its a trick I was taught on a research trip one time.
- Actually, I'm going to retract this and slap a disclaimer on it in case you follow my advice & get murdered.********

APC is on the Rue De Flerus in the 6th arrondisement. There's a lot of good independent fashion designer retailers round there. Agnes B has a great capsule shop that stocks stuff you just don't get anywhere else. A lot of the Japanese designers have kooky little shops round there too. This is the area I was referring to earlier, I just checked an old notebook for the address of APC.

we played in 3 clubs in paris a few months ago, all v different but good...
Club Le Baron - tiny intimate club, exactly how you'd imagine a parisian boudoir to be. might be members only not sure:
http://www.clublebaron.com/spip.…La Fleche D'or - bigger place, free entry? check that tho. indie rock + electro acts.
http://www.flechedor.fr/Showcase - much bigger, not sure if it's pretentious or if that was just cos we were playing Alexander McQueen's party so the crowd was v fashiony. all i remember were the pint sized goblets of champagne...
