How do you listen to it?
When I come across a record I really like I'll listen to it over and over for weeks. I might have 2 or 3 in rotation for a month. Once it works it's way out of "the rotation" it won't come back for a while and when it does it's usually infrequent. I'm trying to work my way out of this habit and am interested in hearing how others consume music.

I think that's pretty much the way it goes. Try listening to iTunes on random, it's fun.

I have iTunes on random at work. I have an “Ultimate” smart playlist which is on all the time. As new stuff – usually singles rather than album tracks – seeps in from everyone’s tastes, it gets added to the playlist. Seems to work most of the time. Then there’s ’80s Fridays...

I rarely find a record where I like every single song from it. I don't even know if I have ever found one.
I listen to the music for a few weeks or months, depending on how much I like it. I get tired of music quickly though, so I will purposely avoid listening to something too much in order to enjoy it more the next time I decide to hear it. Usually it takes a few months or longer for me to forget about a song and then add it to my iPod playlist again.

Playlist:
English songs, classics (mostly 80s), foreign songs, classical/instrumental music, and Halloween.

pulling out antenna to receive fresh tunez every day. online radio stations keep up the flow - brought me whole genres i didn't know about before over the years. mix pages. net lables. t0rrenz. the list of music i'm listening to again over a longer period of time is super tiny - just the few alltime magic tracks. i'm listening to music at work only - good sound machine + fat speakers in the studio. definetly no ipod - stuffing my ears outdoors gives me the paranoya - and there is music everywhere anyway.
(by and by i recovered different music influences within my visual work - while still examining this coherence i try to tune to the current project - i think that matters :-)
