Impressive to say the least...

Good ol' Reddit,eh?
I'd be willing to gamble that these two images are actually still photos. Or, at least, were - before they were photoshop blurred in just the right places.
Besides which, even if they're not - what's the point in this vector masturbation? I've never seen the point in putting that much effort into tracing an already existing photograph.
- point is so i hate myself even moreemokid
- these people are more disappointed perhaps. they realised after all this work there is no application for it9832892398

- this IS a photomarychain
- You mean blurred with Adobe® PhotoShop™ photo-manipulation filter software.i_monk

really impressive. but i also share some of detritus' skepticism ;)

I only started believing this stuff after I saw Brooke's work.
But yeah, it's hard to tell with technology nowadays.
*sounds like old person

these don't appear to be set up to animate... it would not be easy to do.
the point is probably because they enjoy doing it.

Yeah, these are done in Illustrator, rather than Maya or something. So these can't be animated and are really just insane and impractical.

Hypothetically, I doubt it would take too much effort (read: more than they're already obviously willing to dedicate...) to import the mesh for animation.

in my best illustrator retard voice
"yeah but it's vector so you can blow it up to like a billion percent and not lose quality"

Truth is ....it's not that hard to do with Illy's gradient mesh and about a thousand spare hours...there just isn't ANY point....they are traced from a photo anyway....it CANNOT be imported to any application for animation...that's retarded...have you SEEN these meshes.....and they're a LOT of seperate meshes actually. You will NEVER need this....however...it IS kind of fun...if you enjoy puzzle's

- nice, kon23!detritus
- superb accuracy & detail .
brownie points for browny...jimzyk - that mesh is surreal, the points aren't even connected!9832892398

That's the ironic thing – you still need a decent photo in the first place...it's impressive but I'd rather spend the time think of ideas.

who cares if there isnt much application for this type of imagery. yes i would say most of these were traced from actual photos, but the attention to detail is amazing and the artist(s) obviously have a lot of dedication and patience. i think it's incredible

Waste of time?
