I'm having a hell of a time looking for a flat in London up to 600pcm, .. I've been using gumtree and moveflat, are there any other sites out there??

Yeah thats pretty cheap for a whole flat. £800-£1000 is a more realistic price for a one or two bedroom place depending on area.
Gumtree is pretty hopeless for whole flats, most of the landlords on there are the scammy gits with run down hovels. I went to see one off there which advertised an ensuite. It turned out to be a shower in the bedroom, you could roll out of bed and straight into the shower.
Where are you looking at? I live in Crystal palace it's a bit far south but nice area and cheaper places if you don't mind walking up a hill. I pay £750 a month for a nice place of a reasonable size, its the best place I saw in about six months of looking and one of the cheapest and that seems to hold true of most places in Crystal Palace.
- i am sat in my studio in Crystal place as i write this. tiss a small world so it is

As already said, I'd be surprised if you did find a flat in London Actual for £600 pcm. If you DO, please let me know where and how! :)

If you can find a decent whole flat for 850 you're on to a winner, but as others have said 600 is just a room really.

If you are willing to up your rent a bit say £900 for a one bedroom flat. Check out estate agents in the area you want to live, most of the decent flats come through them. Just check how they are charging their fees, some of them will charge you for the privilege of renting through them.

lol @ the packing store... I want to be somewhere north of the river, most of my friends are that way, so islington, dalston.. whatever, I'm in Camberwell, there seems to be more crazy people in the south imho

Go for local estate agents in the area you want to live and avoid Foxtons' their pricks

Not sure if they do rentals, but I found this website the other day...
It's pretty awesome for UK property searching (still in beta, but bloody good).
