Yes Lacies have been very good for me as well. Great company and I think they really hold the best value for their product.

as it is a network version, it also get disconnected sometimes. thats just one of the side effects.
- even lacie's.akrokdesign
- by the way, that lacie do not have a fan. I know they say it dont need one but its only half truth.akrokdesign

so can you work directly off the one i posted above?

"Heat sink metal design for natural cooling; thermoregulated, linear smart fan"
oops, looks like it did had a fan.
you have to use the network cable. the usb on the back are so you can hook up like a printer or other ex. hd.

so i have this drive: http://www.lacie.com/au/products…
and it stopped working. i think it got a power surge as the board inside it has a brown burn mark. is there another case that i could buy to see if the drive will work?
- look for external enclosures / case. find one you like and just switch the HD to that one. its easy.akrokdesign
- just as a ex. here's one i like. http://eshop.macsale…akrokdesign
- yeah i have an older case - but this 500gb drive has different cabls and plugs etc...forcetwelve

lacie got pretty bad reviews
Infrant (now Netgear) is one of the best, but very, very expensive
I got an Iomega 3 tb model for 1500 (saved a grand over the Infrant and have a better warranty). That was 3 months ago, so probably cheaper now. I've got 3 1 tb Maxtor single drives backing the Iomega up daily.
Best Resource I've found:
