Any suggestions on a simple open source Flash blog?

Why a flash blog? Kind of defeats the rss advantages of blogging.

a blog made out in flash? i didn''t even know that was possible. why would you want it in flash?

I'm thinking of starting a blog where i write stuff down and fax them into the web.

rss is just a feed...
... if the info is in a db... you're fine for keeping rss feeds.
Maybe I'm completely confused as to what you're all talking about though...
... are you talking about something like a wordpress setup... but in flash?
... just a blog... done in flash... right?
- I see. You mean skin a wordpress site with a flash interface?Mimio

Yes - it is goign to be incorporated into a Marketing Agencies all Flash site... They want a section where they can comment on the industry, probably doesn't need to be complex... more like a news section, but possibly with more functionality.

I'd go the flash sknning route.
Try something like the Super Simple Blog Script http://supersimple.orgAnd bascially, your flash can load the data in from the Db directly.

if it doesn't need to be all that complex, then why not just develop a custom solution to fit your project. you just need a simple XML parser class for AS2/3 for reading in the feed, a script to generate the XML from the database entries, and the front end to spit out the entries in a nice format for the end user. then maybe a backend admin page for them to add, edit and remove entries.
- or your can just use flash remoting to load directly from the DB w/o XMLurban10

I'm curious to see what you come up with. Good luck.

Hmm... I find it interesting that people are still under the impression that Flash is incapable of so many things... such as back button capabilities (www.rokkan.com), blogging (thinkswedish.com) or something as basic as RSS feeds (www.pierinc.com), which have nothing to do with Flash. Flash and JavaScript work very well together, which makes any of these things a possibility.
I know, not a very helpful post... but it simply baffles me that most people are so quick to bash it without the proper knowledge or research to back it.
I'm just sayin, man... Give us a chance. Please. We're not all evil people who want to destroy the web with gratuitous animation and intro sequences. Really. We have feelings too.
- Copy a unique string of text out of one of these blogs and paste it into a search engine you'll see what I mean.Mimio

back to your original question, if you need help, I'd be glad to lend a hand. AS2 or AS3. No matter.
- Mimio0
My beef with it is whether or not it behaves like a typical blog in terms of search. Those sites are really impressive though, especially the pierinc one.
- MediaPimp0
Mimio, while this may not go to the lengths of some others, this is merely an example... copy and paste this into a search engine... "
Enhance the player's performance without hindering the natural performance features of the human body", click on the first result. My point is, it's fully possible to make Flash sites SEO friendly. It's just a matter of actually doing it.

Here's a link to an open source flash blog, it's in spanish but I think it has all the features that a "normal" blog has.

...I haven't used it to a full conclusion - but I have had a mooch around it - seems to be skinnable enough - and was easy to set up when I as checking it out - demo isn't the prettiest though!
