So I think I'm finally ready to give up the hope that my favorite magazine is ever coming back. I loved the bands they featured on their DVD's. Where does everyone go online to find info on music? I need some new stuff to listen too. Google just brings up Billboard, Rolling Stone and other places that are too mainstream.
Thanks.
Also, does anyone know what happened to RES?

Last year saw the launch of two well funded national music industry titles, and both folded again after just one issue. Just one issue. That's how bad it is in music magazine land. If they don't get the target figures with issue one they just pull the plug.

Is Pitch Fork Media the res guys new company? I know they were up on making a new brand or two but that was the last I heard.

I don't quite remember, but I don't think so... the last issue of RES I had mentioned something about their new manifestation, but to be honest, I thought it was a pretty weak mag and didn't pay much attention...
Pitchfork is pretty spot-on though...

That link is perfect.

Pitchfork and RES are completely different, and to the best of my knowledge, not related in the slightest. As far as I know, RES folded. Jonathon Wells (co-founder of RES/RESFEST) is doing a new thing in LA now... forget the name... i got an email for entries last spring it seems.

wikipedia:
"ctober 2006 issue of Res was the last issue to be printed as of now. A new hybrid magazine format would be launched by RES in 2007 which will be published on several media."

I think RES was just good at picking videos, creative with catchy tunes. I got the mag and dvd for 2 years. Some of them I thought were cheap indie crap that no one else would take until I realized I'd see half of them around all the time and couldn't get the song or video out my head. I got a valuable collection in those discs.
