Nice Mango! Hope everything goes well!
I'm sidelined for another weekend, but Nice Rec and the rest of the Good Guys left in PGH will be through. At the very least the after parties after the Gallery Crawl I believe, haha.
I'll hit it up in the next few weeks for sure. :D

cool cool! I did 12 new pieces for this show, a bunch are hand painted type studies and experiments, with graphic images. I will post photos after the show.

How'd the opening go homie?

cool, i'm definately going to check out that show! I will be in Pittsburgh next weekend for my first time ever! Can you recommend any cool places to check out? Galleries/Bars/Bookstores/Coffee Shops? Or I would just be happy with a good place to eat. Most likely gonna check out the Warhol Museum.

The Warhol Museum is suite. It's in North Shore (or at least walking distance) and it has a lot of restaurants and the like around it. Some are just bars, some are chain bars, while others are like ... chain bars but attempting to be high class. The Science Center (which has an Omnimax and the Bodies Exhibition going on now) is just on the other side of the stadiums.
Kind of in this order:
Warhol > Bars > PNC Park > Bars/Parking Lot > Heinz Field > Science Center.I live just down the river actually in walking distance, haha. When I go for runs, I touch Heinz Field and come back, haha.
Uhm ... things to do in Pittsburgh. Uhm ... all we do is drink basically. The Strip District is full of clubs where yuppies go, South Side is full of dive bars, horribly place clubs, and just fun places to drink.
If you are going to do the shopping thing, East Carson during the day has some weird antique stores, and the Southside Works has more of a walk around outside mall aspect with some nicer stores?
I am horrible at this.
The one thing I would recommend is to go see the Chihuly Exhibit at Phipps Conservatory in Oakland.
Definitely.

http://www.phipps.conservatory.o…I take everyone there it's fucking tits (I'm going again next weekend, haha).
All of the Carnegie Museums are great:

Museum of Art:

http://www.carnegiemnh.org/Don't be fooled, they are one and the same just huge (you may need more than one pass).
These museums are near some better places to eat (Pittsburgh based, not as hokie as North Shore). I'd check out Craig Street, there are two restaurants I can't think of now that are nice.
Are you going to have internet access in Pittsburgh? There are usually parties and things that are going on like the gallery crawl, but I never usually now until the second of as I just kind of go to places.
Also, do not feel like you have go to a Primiantti's. You're not missing anything, haha.
If you need anymore info, or if you have some set plans and want someone's take on it let me know here or e-mail me.
If anything comes to mind later after this stream of consciousness post, I'll let you know.

Also, Pittsburgh is a pretty friendly place, if you ask people questions they'll be happy to answer. And if they're not I hate them and they must be transplants.
Oh yes. Other things to do in Pittsburgh:
The inclines are kind of neat (though it's cold and no heat in the cars). If you go to Station Square (which is filled with bars and restaurants) across the street on top of the mountain is Mt. Washington (where I used to live overlooking the city, I have no idea why I ever moved it was tits).
you can take the incline up, and all along Grandview Avenue are places to stop and look at one of the most beautifuliest cities in the world. Actually named best skyline I think (that vantage point is from teh Duquense Incline which is further away from the Monogonahela Incline which is across from Station Square).
Teh Duquense Incline has the haughty taughty restaurants where you can look over the city while you eat, you may need reservations.
Other places ... Shadyside is near Lawrenceville and is filled with bars (I'll probably be at the Walnut Grille on the 2nd floor Friday or Saturday) and places to shop/eat. It's kind of higher class? I have no idea.
Nothing is really high class in Pittsburgh.
Don't be fooled by Downtown, there is nothing to do there.
Also, Lawrenceville is going through a bit of a gentrification so if you check out the gallery don't be put off by heroin and other drug deals you may see on the street. Everyone is still very nice and it's incredibly safe.
Shit. Let me know what you did, or end up doing, I need toget better at this.

Oh yea, a lot of people take the inclines to get their pictures taken with the Pittsburgh back drop. Also, don't be fazed by the yinzers who walk around in Steeler gear year round.
Also, stick on Grandview and don't go too far back, haha. There are some places in Pittsburgh that will never go through gentrification.
I'd say all these cool things to do where I grew up in West End. But unless you have a check to cash, or marvel at all the churches and bars, there is absolutely nothing to do there except to get robbed or shot at.

Your pretty good at this flavorful, I think you hit on a lot of good places in the burgh. Might want to check out the mattress factory www.mattress.org while your out by the Warhol Museum.

Hey! Sorry I didn't send this out earlier. The show was awesome! We (the other artists and myself) had a great turnout, so good that it was difficult to move at times.
I sold five pieces, one reproduction, and a commission to paint a bathroom. One of the paintings sold to Elizabeth Banks (40 yr. old Virgin, Scrubs). i am pretty stoked on ALL of this- I didn't expect to sell a thing (anyone that's an artist in PGH knows what I mean... we broke here!) let alone to an actress. Enjoy the photos!
- great pics. i like the style. i keep seeing people painting and printing on wood and its great looking734

THAT PGH SHIT IS CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
- flavorful0
Did that shit get picked up?
I see the cast of characters were in full force, haha.
Also, how much NSF gear did you heads make, haha?
- mangosnot0
Yes the LV and the PGH Louis Vuitton ones did get picked up, however, I silkcreened them, therefore, if you want one I can accomodate. I have to make another one for someone that requested it, so lemme know!
The NSF gear gets produced once annually, usually for our reunion/ BBQ's. My pal in Baltimore made the hoodies, they came out awesome.
- flavorful0
Yea the one shirt I saw you rocking the other weekend was fresh too. Nothing like graff heads making money legally, haha!
Yea, I'm down with that shit if you can pop it off just let me know Do they come together, or could I just rock the PGH versions? I'm not from the Ville, haha. :D
Actually together staggered on opposite sides of a hallway would be dope too with the colours.
- mangosnot0
We don't sell the NSF shirts, they are just for the reunions and what not.
I can definitly do both the PGH and the LV if you like. They do look good together. the guy that is comissioning me to muralize his bathroom want the keystone pattern all over. I have to figure out how to:
A) get a silkscreen big enough for walls.
or
B) screen some panels and install that waynot sure how to go about it yet.
- flavorful0
Haha I know you don't sell the NSF, I meant the work despite keeping it in the same sentence without adding another subject, haha.
Hrm ... I would measure out the walls and make a nice sized panel that would work for all widths and do a repetition effort like a background image.
Or depending on the size of the room, if you can somehow project it onto the wall as well?
- mangosnot0
I have a projector, but he said that his bathroom is super narrow. I won't have enough space to move backwards and project.
Madirish, I think that might be the way (stencils), that or the panels- I think that since it's a fairly powerful repetition, that an ENTIRE four walls could be a bit overbearing I think. But broken up I think might be the best option.
- mangosnot0
no no no, it's staying brown. I wouldn't do it if that was the case!
Got all the love in the world for PGH, but sometimes it can't always
be black and gold!

Tessa has a grammatical error on her shirt, haha.
- mangosnot0
LOL. I was going to ask if you know Tessa, but you used her name, so yea, I guess you do know an Tessa lol
