is this true
"Immediately after installing the QT 7.4 update, I have been unable to render (anything) in After Effects.
I get an error: After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permissions to open this file (-54)
(44::53)
I have repaired permissions, downloaded the Full QT 7.4 installer, reinstalled, repaired permissions again and still the same problem. Something has changed in QT that has made AE incompatible.
Apple, please fix or offer some assistance on how to fix.
The AE forums are also beginning to fill with everyone having this same issue after an update to QT 7.4
My work has come to a halt. How do I fix this?
I can't find any info on reverting back to QT 10.3.1 "

Have you tried CHMODing the .app to 777 through a terminal instead of just using repair permissions.

I got this from a forum but haven't tried it yet so back up your system first!!!!! Everyone says it works now though doing it this way.
The problem is with the new Quicktime upgrade to 7.4. You have to get rid of 7.4, and get back to 7.3. Here's an easy way to do it:
Get Pacifist. Download and install that app. It allows you to downgrade apps without having to re-install the whole damn OS.
Once you've got Pacifist, re-download QT 7.3. Open Pacifist and instruct it to open the 7.3 package. Follow the prompts, reinstall the whole damn thing. Takes about 10 minutes. lemme know what you find out cuz I upgraded on one of mine but found out before i upgraded all.

whats wrong with apple and adobe?
first this nightmare with leopard and parts of cs3. now the adobe after effect "fix" which is gone the same time apple updates quicktime.it seems to me that the "connection" between those two companies has been better in the past...
is it that apple isnt that important anymore for adobe?
- rtr0
other way around i think rockdog
seems like if final cut pro didn't render out instead of after effects then the problem would already be fixed by now but you are probably right that they need some cohesion. they should be important to each other

i c your point rtr...
but even if final cut is better than premiere. ae is still some kind of industry standard, that motion will never get (ok, lets see...)i mean all this marketing blabla apple: "adobe is a very important company for us" and vice versa... thats all crap, they r just not able to work together...
