fast food logo

need some advice on logo development. dont know if any of you have ever done logo work for fast food joints, or have any advice.
its a secondary element, completely ficticious restuarant called "burrito hut" its for a toy manufacturer. this resturant happens to be part of the world these characters inhabit. a la "krusty krab" in spongebob. my concern is i dont want to spend an insane amount of time on the logo, but at the same time it may be used in comics and merchandising so i want it to be passable as a real logo.
any tips would be appreciated.

well the natural instinct would be to just punk out a pizza hut logo or something... i would rather it be original in someway, like said im treating it as a serious project, but as its a background element i dont want to spend too much time on it

Look at loads of stuff, walk around a city .. eat a burrito - it will come to you!
