Hi folks, Im a graphic designer recently arrived in Vancouver and looking for info on the design community here. What is the best site for vancouver design news? Is there anywhere freelancers can meet up to discuss leads and network like they do once a month in a coffee shop back home in Dublin. Great way to look for photographers, typographers, share contacts and help each other out. Anything like that here in Vancouver? Cheers Diarmuid

Ive just arrived Nick. Though there seems to be quite a few jobs advertised out there... if you are strong into interactive design you're on a winner here

Hey,
I'm in the same boat as you. My girlfriend and I have been here for about 5 months now. If you have CSS or flash skills and your design work isn't total shite you'll have no problem finding work. The print end of things seems a little tighter. Lots of lower-wage jobs with bad work.

Gte up to Grouse tonight if you can... the view over the cloudless city last night was awe inspiring... its work the 32 bucks just to see the city and snow from that height on a clear day....

Im both print and interactive czawada... www.massmedia.ie/portfolio I think the industry has moulded us designers into multi disciplined professionals... you have to apply design skills to all mediums to survive today I think

Yeah, yesterday was easily the nicest day in months. When the clouds roll in and the rain starts I often wonder why I moved here. Then days like yesterday, or today for that matter, come around and it all makes sense again.
