Has anyone ever worked with providing captions (preferably closed captions) on web-based video? If so, two questions:
1. What video format do you use (i.e. Flash Video, Quicktime, RealVideo, Windows Media)?
2. What software do you use (if any) to incorporate the closed captions with the video?Right now, I'm leaning towards flash video (mostly because of the penetration of the player compared to the other formats) and I've looked into a program called 'Captionate'.
Anyone have alternative solutions for creating close captions with online video?

I have only ever done this with digi beta tapes, I send them down to London teo get teletexted up yo!, it's encoded on the 35th line or something basically you can see it if you turn of blanking on the afore mention video lines in the menu of your digi deck when playing back, but to encode this onto a .mov or onto FLV or other format I'm not sure :/ could you simply have a button that says captions on or off like on DVD's etc. funny thing once a guy asked me to do a captioned DVD and was shocked when I told him I had to type it out and it would take me a few hours (it was a long film) he said 'don't you just press a button' if only ye dick!!.
