does anyone know where the tread is where everyone wrote in their favorite font combinations??

The trick answer is that most typefaces work okay together. It's the subject matter and your audience that is most important. Find typefaces that fit your project. Erik Spiekermann's "Stop Stealing Sheep" book has a lot of advice on this.

And don't use too many different fonts on the same job/spread/page

I typically use no more than 2 typefaces on a page, and no more than 2 weights/cuts of each (i.e. a maxed-out page in my opinion could be Bauer Bodoni Roman & Italic, + Helvetica Neue 45 Light and 75 Bold).
