I need to author a Hi-Def DVD and not sure what the client has as a player, HD DVD or Blu-ray. Neither do they as it will be played outside of their office. I assume I need to know in advance what format to author in. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks.

Is it just a resolution thing? It's all mpg really, isn't it?

Looks like video compression is the same on both discs. Just uses a different codec when playing, I think.

right, so I wonder if it will it play on both players.
When are they going to get this shit fool proof? 'cause I'm the fool.

Well, it will need to be burned to each disk differently, but in theory it should play on either side. so get to work bi-i-i-i-i-itch.

I would say Blu-Ray... it's easier to say, 3 less syllables

Blu-Ray sounds gay...

Blu-Ray kind of rhymes with Gatorade, so I'm gonna get Blu-Ray.

can't you ask them what they have?

None right now. Blue-Ray in the past week has gotten ALLOT of backing from the Warner who switched from HD to Blue-Ray as well as their lesser studios. The porn industry who use to be HD exclusive has now started to use the BR format. (Beta died because porn went with VHS or so I'm told). Microsoft says they are not entirely opposed to going BR if the market demands it.
So basically wait say 6 months before investing in a new player, odds are though it'll be a Blue-Ray.
