As it turns out, his instincts were right. The man was dead, and two of his friends had hauled his corpse to a store to cash his $355 Social Security check, police said. They were arrested before they could get the money.
...even after he identified himself as a police officer, O'Hare told him, "I have to get my friend in here. I have to cash his check."
He ordered the men to back away from the victim. They feigned surprise when paramedics declared him dead, Rapp said.
"When they said, 'Your friend is dead,' they said, 'Oh my god, he's gone?"'
The scene played out on a busy Manhattan street as several onlookers watched."

Actually, I have this dance movie I called the "Bernie."
In which I hunch my shoulders and back - back, and kind of step around like Frankenstein with my hands to my side while giving that sheepish death grin that Bernie Lomax has on his face and then kind of do a little jiggle and plop my entire body forward and I'm just hunched over doing the same thing. That's one part, the other part is to dance like Voodoo Music is playing from Weekend at Bernie's 2.
Few people get that dance move, but my G-d, people love it regardless and even more when they realize the inspiration.

I have to admit...when I saw the name of this thread a little part of me was hopeful there was news of a remake or a Weekend at Bernie's III. Although if there was a "III" he'd be pretty disgusting all these years later.
