Nice article. I love to hear about the chaos at apple. they always seem to make what they do look easy but they are human after all.

Gizmodo bashed that article early today. Read a condensed, better version here dibec.

"Other little known facts:
The iphone contains an unknown substance that fell to earth in the late 70's.
If the iphone was accidently dropped, engineers were instructed to immediately leave the vicinity and head to their nearest fall-out shelter.
The engineers code name was HaFoP, or Happy Fun Phone
Engineers were not to taunt Happy Fun Phone "
hahahah that was the best comment I read there.

Priceless:
"For those working on the iPhone, the next three months would be the most stressful of their careers. Screaming matches broke out routinely in the hallways. Engineers, frazzled from all-night coding sessions, quit, only to rejoin days later after catching up on their sleep. A product manager slammed the door to her office so hard that the handle bent and locked her in; it took colleagues more than an hour and some well-placed whacks with an aluminum bat to free her."

boring read. only lame-os own iphones (or fat guys/girls).
- Of the few people I've seen holding iPhones, an abnormal percentage of them seem to be models. Love it or hate it I get to stare at cleavage and pass it off as admiring that 'cool phone'.ismith
- 2 fat guys, 1 bold guy, a lamo-o owner of a post house, my ex-gf, and few other unimpressive peoplepr2
- It is hard to operate with fat fingers Patryk, it takes model slim hands..rafalski
- the modeals i know r on blackberypr2

Wired does more legitimate journalism in a year than you do on your worst day.
Chew on that one. "

I like that iPhone answered one question: "what will mobile browsing be like?". There was WAP, then all kinds of terrible mobile xhtml browsing. Now it's clear there will not be a separate mobile web, only scaled down regular browsers with slick zooming option. There is no going back from that.
There is a difference with touchscreen though: there is no onmouseover or onmouseout browser event and some interfaces work funny or not don't all.
Actually onmouseover now equals onclick and onmouseout takes place when focus changes.
