Madirish, Josh Davis is completely overrated.
I have to agree with seed. You have to worry less about what others are doing and find work that makes YOU happy and content first. What pleases you? Put that sort of work out there.

Everyone could benefit from this book:
Art and Fear:
http://www.amazon.com/Art-Fear-D…I am reading it now. It does an excellent job of explaining deep detrimental feelings about creative work that you may not even realize you had. Quotes from some of the most notable creative minds prove that even the best had the sames thoughts as you.

I don't get intimidated easily unless you're draggin me on a roller coaster or there's some wild animal bigger than me running around int he general vicinity. Learn to admire work greater than yours, then strive to be better than that... there's nothing wrong with that.
Also, I wouldn't say Josh Davis is completely overrated, then again, that's just my opinion of course. I think if you look at his work/process it's a it's pretty straightforward equation. Josh doesn't sugar coat this at all, nor does he pump himself up like he's the best thing going. But, HE does HIS work well and is in the spotlight for it.
