Dumb TV set-up Q

I never watch tv so I'm starting to make an effort to watch more!
We have a TV, freeview and DVD. I have never set them all up together - I always just change the cables etc to suit. So, to save doing that how do I need to wire them all together?
I have the external arial - does this go into DVD or freeview first, and then what? Told you it was a dumb Q but there you go.

have you got scart connections?, if so use them from everything, so take your scart from freeview and pop it into TV then scart from DVD and pop it into tv as well, this way when you turn on the dvd player it will change automatically like magic :D, scart looks like a rhombus with lots if thin lines for pins inside it and it is approx. one and a half inches long by half an inch think, much like my poni yo!.

haha, yeah got scart. Actually we're thinking of getting an lcd with HDMI leads, so there's another spanner in the works!
So where does the external arial wire go?

don't bother until you get something like sky HD as it's a waste of money otherwise, you see a normal signal (SD) will be blown up to twice it's size roughly to fit on your (HD) telly so it will look soft and shite, only buy what you need atkinso it's the circle of life one hand washes the other.

yeah I heard that, we won't be getting sky but might get a new DVD recorder that upscales?

das it's sheisse my friend, record programs to upscale them then watch them later on! when your watching midsomer murders you'll be well pissed of if you watch it later than everyone else yo!upscaling is a myth think about photoshop a jpg at 640 x 480 then scale that to 1024 576 goes a little fuzzy ye mad rocket.
don't buy the upscaling thingy, if your flush get sky if not don't, I hate to think of you wasting money I like to think of you being happy can I make you happy would you ever be happy with me?.
