Im on a mac. Right click gives you the option to compress files into one zipped folder. Nice, that's what I want, but how do I do it when the file are scattered amongst folders?

Copy them all to a new centralized location?

you can use automator to find items in the folder you have them scattered, set the extension to zip (or whatever the compressed files are) and then open the finder items with default application

oh and then you can copy the new opened files into a new folder and have it delete the old ones.

no easier way like ctrl click to look inside a folder or something?
- alkanenine0
you can use column view to see inside each folder easier.

use list view and cmd click to select multiple items, then right click to archive.
or just collect copies of all in a new folder, would make most sense.
