This book has so many insane stories about the life back in the day, in alphabet city, lower east side... crazy crazy shit... Some of the craziest stories I've ever read. Check it. "The Evolution of a Cro-Magnon... www.punkhouse.org ... written by the singer from the Cro-Mags. Guy hung around with Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Rollins, Beasties...
Anybody got any other recommends about great books?

joseph's book is less about punk and more about growing up on the streets... i mean, the guy was homeless and running drugs on the streets of nyc at the age of 14 (in 1977)... his stories are outrageous... i'm looking for more good stories/books like his... doesn't have to come from punk rock.

susie horgan's photo book "punk love" is pretty good, i just wish it was larger sized so the pictures could be bigger. rollins & mackaye back when they were working at haagen daaz era stuff. she took the photo of alex on the minor threat cover (it's in there). there was a book tour and she had these six foot prints of henry & ian and so many others, certainly a wealth of great photos of a crucial time in music history.

joseph's book is a novel... 420 pages. it's about the stories. you gotta read it... it's amazing... i'm NOT looking for photo books... those are vanity books in my mind.

i did hear that the sugarman book was good... i'll check it out, thanks... ..joseph tells some interesting tales about harley in his book... i think he knocked harley out with one punch... anyway, those 2 were tight at one point but i think harley's got a chip on his shoulder about john now...whatever.

nice... i heard The Dirt was good too... kinda bugs me though because all these dudes had ghost writers... it's all put together so "professionally"... joseph's book is different. no ghost writer, it's his voice talking thru the book... really honest and down to earth... motley crue, although they do rock, are a bunch of posers.

there's a good story: AB gets an interview with a top chef at a bi g restaurant. They talk and finally, the chef asks "So, what do you know about me?" At this AB mumbles but thinks what a fucking asshole with an ego to match, fuck him and blows the rest of the interview. Later AB walking in the street, some blocks away with his knives under his arm, clogs clicking on the pavement, he slaps himself... Fuck!
"What do you know about meat?"
