is there a folder somewhere in the hard drive that stores license keys?

no you cannot pirate that software just by copying the license key to another machine

haha, no I have a few small apps that I've paid for and wondered whether the keys were kept on the comp somewhere. I can always mail the companies to retrieve them but figured this would be easier

it's specific to the app, but you can start in Library/Application Support/
