22hour day spent clean installing Leopard after just upgrading the day before. Lost so much stuff because time machine decided to write over its self filling a 500gb external drive in 6 hours!
I've sorted most things now. Can anyone tell me how to get the dock and widgets back to there former glory?! I can't find a settings file / folder anywhere!

got the widgets, just dock prefs to go! Well, today I learnt that time machine doesn't work. Cool, looks nice though.

eeek sorry to hear that craig, I know you've not long been an apple man. hope you haven't lost owt valuable.
I don't rate time machine v highly and I'm having a few other little leopard teething issues too but the software updates are cleaning things up.
I think I'll stick with superduper to backup for now.

I think TM is ok if you're just dragging a few folders. But when I was clean installing Leopard it asked. 'install from TM back up'. So I was happy it asked, then it told me I only had 1 back up and it wasn't the right type, Microsoft style.
I believe CS3 esp indesign is troublesome with Leopard. Do you use that? I'm not sure I have any other probs though. Oh, the space button on my mouse just switches off after 10 mins or so meaning I can't use spaces!

yeah tm is nearly awesome.
I'm still waiting for cs3 so I can't compare, and surely you can use F8 for spaces?
- ribit0
there's a lot of ways to use Spaces... try dragging stuff to edge of screen...

well I switched f8 off, that's the files button in dreamweaver, so it was clashing. f13 now, but it's nice to do it with the mouse imo, just awkward really!

ah yeap
I'm only working on a tiny macbook at the moment so I've kinda gotten hands on with the keyboard rather than mouse btns.
fancying a new imac in january tho =)
I'm sure this helps =/
- Atkinson0
haha, yeah, I was thinking about getting a PC at 4am! I thought you had an imac? Not sure why or how I'd know though!

Time Machine has no use for me, I need regular backups of last saved version of a file, not every state of a file in its history. What a waste of resources.
I set up spaces initially, but they're off now, never used them.
