so, are there any decent cheap / free alternatives to indesign / photoshop / dreamweaver. All I need is something to produce pdf / print booklets from. Something that can automate a few actions to many images and something to make my site with knowing no code at all!

You should use Word, Publisher & Frontpage. You can probaly find a free version online but it will probaly be in Russian.

I've only used Textwrangler however.

no, no russian. I can get office free because I teach though. I don't want office though, hate it! Will take a look at these now, don't think gimp has an automate tool?

I like google docs for office type stuff. I just need something instead of cs3. Obviously I'd have CS3 but at that price I don't think so!

OpenOffice is excellent. I use it as the default instead of MSOffice at work.

NeoOffice is an OS X native implementation of OpenOffice.

my friend uses this thing called inkspace i believe on his mac. I think it's a free alternative for illustrator.
