web wizards unite!
in your opinion what is the preferred type style for web pages? serif - like georgia, times etc or a sans serif like arial, verdana... (only standard web-safe fonts) for smallish type, that is...

Georgia definitely:

usability and legibility wise people always prefer sans like arial/verdana.

Verdana works well small with a fair amount of line spacing.

Sans

i like georgia but at times it does seem a bit hard to read when it's small, but then again a sans is a bit 'life-less' also...

Read this:

"Finally, we should accept that most reasonably designed typefaces in mainstream use will be equally legible, and that it makes much more sense to argue in favour of serif or sans serif typefaces on aesthetic grounds than on the question of legibility."

that IS an interesting point (and a good read too)

I wonder if we will someday live in a world where we can use decent fonts on the web

it's kinda the opposite of print; serifs for headlines and sans for smaller textsizes
