Flash/Director? I will have a meeting tomorrow, concerning a new Project: Something "like" a 3D shooter. (they didn't tell me more...) It should be finished in Summer 2008. In February, they would like to see a Scenery with no Details/just Polygons. We'd like to do that inhouse. Markus, our Programmer, asked me for some Research ; )

no engines for you but this site should give some inspiration
and some insight into how they made it

Starting points:
Flash:

http://www.kirupa.com/developer/…The flash sandy site is full of resources, just browse it.
About director.
have a look on the manual. Is a lot more straightforward than flash 3d, since supports openGl (or some 3d library). But well... you'll need the director plugin.

With Director you can do games like this: http://www.adultswim.com/games/c…
Papervision3D seems to be the code of choice for handling 3D models, lighting and texturing in Flash. Pretty much only for AS3 / Flash 9.
That Kirupa link above gave me the 3D display and camera code to make this: http://work.mullen.com/holidays/… which is more of a 2D - 3D approach in Flash 8; all graphics are flat but they're scaled and positioned convincingly.
Depends how you want it to look, but the last one might be a good start at least for a prototype.
