I'm trying to convert a flash file to something other than swf such as a quicktime movie or even a jpg sequence but it only exports what is seen on the main timeline and not animations that go deeper beyond the main timeline in the flash file. Has any one ever had this problem and is there a simple fix?

I'd like to know too - I vaguely looked into this a few months ago, but couldn't see any easy fix. The only thing that sprang to mind was getting some sort of screen grab software and recording a sequence, then dropping it in to Premiere and hacking around with it there... at which point I gave up, because what I was doing wasn't that important!
- yeah thats what im probally going to have to do, using snap pro on mac to record the screen at mopeterorpete

the flash file has to be all created on the main timeline, your embeded movies may not run if they are too deep. remember, a qt file only has a few layers so you have to make your flash pretty simple and test often. you may have to rebuild and make it simple or in parts and export and piece back together to get what you want.

heya... had to do similar stuff in the past myself... I ended up using this: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasi…

That converts swf to avi and video looks the same as swf when played. Executes scripts and everything else.
I was using it with Flash 6 so not really sure if it works with 7,8,9 :)
Hope that helps somehow

I've heard you can do it if exporting/publishing from Flash 9. Give it a try. If it doesn't work, try iShowU at http://www.shinywhitebox.com

Flash 9 it supposedly able to export to QT, exactly how you see the SWF, nested MC's and AS. If you're on PC, I use Adshareit SWF to AVI converter, doesn't miss a frame, just as u see it in the Flash player, all AS too. http://www.adshareit.com
