I'm still waiting for the Protein store to re-open. They had some great stuff up in there.
http://proteinos.com/ is the link referenced above, if anyone is curious.

I think I used to like NT first, then PixelSurgeon, then Design Is Kinky, and then the others (like k10k, Lounge72, Australian inFront, etc.).
Now it's basically just QBN.

QBN PWNZ them all. Possibly.

just noticed another design portal, lounge72 (http://www.lounge72.com) is closed now. The comment on the PBS remarks about first Pixelsurgeon closing down too.
Curious? why is this happening? is it just the usual turnover, maintainers moving on to other things etc...? or is it something larger like the impact of the massive / major social networks like facebook overtaking more 'niche' portals ........or that there's too many blogs, too many sources of links and discussion on things like delicious and..well, just all the blogs out there...
I don't expect NT, uhh, I mean, QBN to go that way anytime soon...seems quite stable....userbase, new site and all .... but some of those other longtime portals........kaput.....
...surprised K10K has stuck around out of all of them....
DiK is in transition I see now too...Maybe what it is,... is that the old sites, their maintainers and regular posters etc.... are reaching a threshold, where they must decide if they want to redesign to bring their 'portal' up to more social networking/bookmarking/community standards of interaction, design, etc ...... or risk basically dying a slow death....
random thoughts for the day anyways....
Long live the design portals
