Here we go again.
Basically, when I use InDesign CS2 for imposition, whenever I use more than a few PDFs in a document, it starts to mess up the layers.
For an example I have been working on a booklet, it's 24pp, and for some reason I cannot work out when I set it up to send over for proofing, it prints with a bunch of lowercase i's missing.
Just now I have been printing tables etc, and on 3 out of 12 tables, highlighted areas have been almost pixelstretched down the rows.
Is this a problem anyone else has ever had? Is it software based or is it the RIP we are using? (Fiery, onboardw ith a xerox dc250)
Just trying to eliminate this before I email a xerox engineer.
Thanks.

Doesn't the fiery come with it's own imposition software?
One I've used in the past did have, you just sent the document as a 'facing pages' pdf with bleed, then run it through the on board imposition at it would let you determine gutter, crops etc.

It does, but I am just using the dc250 for proofing purposes, I have the booklet all in pages in an indesign document, which I export to PDF and then use the PDFs to set it up for proof (when i send final print to press will be in different layout).
The idea is that over the revisions of proofs, I have my one file for artwork, one file is print setup and it always updates from proof pdf, so I don't have to run imposition software every new proof. Works well normally, except recently its started going bizzaro.
- I realise this makes very little sense outside of my head.

have you tried using InBooklet SE in indesign or is that no good to you?

The booklet thing was just an example, I have no problems with imposition etc. Just the way my PDF's seem to corrupt between Indesign and the RIP/Print out somewhere.
