So im finally going to break down and buy one i think especially after seeing the GTA IV trailers.
Who on here has one what do you think ?
is it really worth it.
I think its worth it just for the bluray player alone.
but wanted some other users feedback.

Im going to buy one for christmas as thats the only time of year I have time to play games. Blue ray player is a bonus too. The ps3 live network is free too, although not sure how good it is. I am looking forward to Gran Turismo next year too, I only really play car games.

I've got one. Really like it.
Few points worth considering:
1. Needs more games, but some are outstanding. CoD4 is probably one of the best games I've played. Ever.
2. Blu-ray player is good. Worth it for that alone? Not sure... still a format-war going on. Will Blu-ray win? Hope so.
3. Online network thing is adequate. Never used XBox 360 so can't compare. Online gaming is fast - no lag. Online store is ok. Can get lots of demo's, blu-ray trailers etc.
4. Don't forget XBox 360 hardware is 2 years+ old. Given the choice I'd pick PS3 every time.
5. XBox 360 – by the time you'd bought a HD-DVD drive, payed for XBox Live Gold, bought a wireless controller etc, your probably looking at the same price, if not more than a PS3. Don't let the price put you off.
- xbox live has been really good. i don't get as much connection problems as i do on a pc and there's tons of people playing all the time.sung_konajalinejox
- Don't forget that PS3 was delayed an entire year while its system specs stayed suspended in stasis. Developers have said repeatedly that differences between the two systems are negligible.brenton

Love it. Its even better hooked up to a bravia. Online gameplay is great, even on a shitty australia connection, altho some games have uber geeks in them who have no life and kill you before you even see them. Online really extends the life of a game as it adds a whole new area to explore.
- I'd second that – HD TV is a must.Raniator

PS3 is the best system out, no comparison. Its build quality is one of the highest, the potential power will ultimately kill off the current Xbox360 (once they start utilizing it correctly). I say get one and enjoy every day.

The problem with Sony is that they have sucked at marketing and pricing on their system. That's why they are still last in sales.
- Very true. Itll change though. Give it till end of 2008. They will most likely pick up a mass pace in sales.TheTofuFactory

im not a xbox fan never have been, i play titles that sony releases
final fantasy / gta / etc i know the new gta will be on xbox but im not switching formats i like playstation. plus they have by far the most comfortable controller i think.

It just needs to catch up with the games, as they keep bringing out titles that have been on the 360 for like 12 months?
Its all well saying it has blu-poo but its a game machine! where are the games?ive got no doubt tho that once they start releasing games like killzone it will kick arse, until then im sticking with the 360

Rainbow Six Vegas is pretty bad ass.

had a 360 then traded it in for a ps3. Best thing i've ever done. The 360 feels really cheap and like it's gonna break.... plus its soooooo bloody noisy!
I've converted most of my movie/tv shows over the mp4 and use the ps3 as a media box.
COD4 is the best game in a long time!
- FallowDeer0
no I would really buy a PS3 if it had brought out the games faster.
plus spending £10 more per game for some titles doesnt seem right?
- FallowDeer0
yeah COD4 is the best multiplayer so far, also with the new 360 update you can play divx avi files

I'll whoop that ass in NHL.

I own all three systems. The PS3 is a great piece of hardware - Blu-Ray with HDMI 1.3 spec out of the box. As for games, I prefer the 360. I use the PS3 to watch most movies (in Blu-Ray), the HD-DVD exclusive titles get played on my 360's add-on. I'll play Unreal Tournament 3, and Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and a couple other when they come out, but I usually prefer multiplatforms on my 360 since I prefer the controller. I think both systems are worth owning if it's affordable enough. There have been plenty of great deals lately. Just search around fatwallet.com

Can anyone describe the PS3 quality on a regular TV? I'm planning to get one and keep putting it off till after Christmas, but I still have a regular 27" CRT tv. Will it be OK to play on?

Games still look pretty good on SD. My friend has same setup as you mg33 and its still cool.
